Cairo-based Youssef Nabil is among the most successful representatives of the Middle Eastern contemporary art scene. Nabil has been drawing everyone’s attention lately, notably the collectors. Embracing a unique style through his fusion of East and West since 1992 when he embarked on this career, Nabil draws his inspirations from both the harmonious and the inharmonious aspects of this fusion to keep creating the wonders that the whole world so eagerly anticipates. “I had a visual relation to everything, since a very young age. I used to spent a lot of time doing collages, drawings and editing.” says Youssef Nabil when being asked about the early traces of his artistic productivity. Largely inspired by the Egyptian cinema of the 70s and 80s, he hand colors all of his black & white photographs technique, which is, as he states, something commonly practiced in studios of Egypt till the early 90s and fascinates him.
